Harold Hugh Clarke was born on 5 May 1893 at Kerikeri.
On 29 December 1931 he married Rita Charlotte Hargraves (born Waimate North, 20 April 1898) at St Paul's, Auckland.
Harold died at Auckland Hospital on 8 November 1933 and is interred at Waimate North.
After his death, Rita raised their son Wyatt Trevor Clarke alone before remarrying in 1943 — to Edward Blomfield Clarke, son of Henry Tacy Clarke, thereby connecting two branches of the wider family.
Wyatt Trevor Clarke (born 3 October 1932, Whangarei) became a customs officer, eventually heading the Import Licensing Department at Christchurch. He and his wife Marjorie are the link to the family's current generation in the Thames area. Their son Laurence Charles Clarke became a journalist and later a producer for TV3's 20/20.
